Lawrence W. Falter

Lawrence W. Falter, age 87, of West High Street, Mt. Vernon, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born on November 25, 1915 in Mt. Vernon, son to the late Clarence and Bessie (Styers) Falter Fleming. Lawrence owned and operated the Falters Market Grocery Store and worked for the Knox County Bank, Martin Car Dealership and Bullocks Drive Thru. He was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Army from 1940-1944 and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Veterans of Foreign War Post #4027.

He is survived by a son Thomas (Sharon) Falter of Columbus two granddaughters; Stephanie (Mark) Wood and Samantha Falter both of Columbus, a great-granddaughter; Ashley Wood, a Sister-in-law; Celeste “Dutch” Falter of Mt. Vernon and longtime companion; Betty Bullock of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Falter (1978) and a brother Phillip Falter.

Friends may call at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 302 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. A service will follow beginning at 1:00 P.M. with the Pastor Joe Blevins officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be at Mound View Cemetery.
