Lawrence W. Cain Sr.
August 20, 1941 ‒ November 27, 2012
Lawrence W. Cain Sr., age 71 of Delaware died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon in the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 20, 1941 in Columbus, the longtime Delaware resident was a son of the late Lawrence and Garnet (White) Cain. Never afraid of a good days work, he was employed for 30 years with Liebert- Emerson Corp as the head maintenance department. He was most proud of the fact that for 30 years he had perfect attendance and was awarded for this accomplishment.
With a passion for the automobile, he treasured classic and hot-rod cars, especially his 1940 “Wild Willies”, which he built from the ground up. A longtime member and president of the Outsiders Car Club, he was happiest in life when it involved cars: racing, driving, showing, or fixing them in his garage. He also drag raced in his younger years and at one time was a record holder.
A fan of western movies and Kentucky Fried Chicken, he was generous and kind. He loved unconditionally, always putting others first, and was a great man.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Lawrence (Tamara) Cain Jr. of Ostrander, twin daughters; Kandy Russell (fiancé Chris Campbell) of West Mansfield, Mandy Ann Brooks of Delaware, his former wife of over 40 years: Ada (Coakley) Cain of Delaware, and Grandchildren: Tony, Caprice, Melanie, Trisha, Jenny, and Great-grandson: Jakob, sister Blanche (Don) Hovis of Delaware, as well as a host friends.
Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware, where services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with Rev. Travis Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be directed to his family to help with final expenses.
