MANSFIELD: Larry “Tak” Takacs, Mansfield, 73, passed away Monday evening, June 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 29, 1941 in Elyria, Ohio to Stephen James and Doris Rosette (Gerhart) Takacs. He graduated from Madison High School in 1959 where he was a football player. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Sherry (Herring) Takacs, sons Andrew “AJ” Takacs and Raymond Shearer, granddaughters Kaylee Takacs and Kylie Shearer, a grandson Logan Shearer all of Florida; a sister Carol Kuelling; a sister-in-law Carol Takacs; a brother-in-law Jim Herring and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

  • Larry was a fun loving man and I don’t think he ever knew a stranger. He will be missed by all that knew him but mostly by his loving wife Sherry.

  • Of course you have my deepest condolences! Larry and I were good friends for quite a while, before he asked me to bring you up to Lew’s that one Friday night, a long time ago, so that he could meet you (and you didn’t want to go…remember?). Well, it took a while to convince you, but you finally agreed to go with me to meet him…and the rest is history. I told you that you would “like” him, huh!?! He always had a good time, and your “infamous” pool parties certainly come to mind. I’m glad I recorded them for posterity! He will be sorely missed by us all! Love you both!

  • Sherry,

My most heartfelt sympathies go out to you and your family, on the loss of your loved one. Praying for strength and comfort for all.
