Laura (Woodward) Ruhl, age 98, of Mount Gilead, was called to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She loved the Lord and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was born to the late Austin and Bertha (Stinehelfer) Woodward on September 26, 1919, at their Dudley Street home in Bucyrus, Ohio. Laura was a 1937 graduate of Mount Zion High School.
On January 22, 1940, Laura married Donald M. Ruhl whom preceded her in death on May 18, 1985. Together, they farmed and raised four sons in Mount Gilead. In 1972, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where they made their home until returning to Mount Gilead in 1984.
Among the many hobbies Laura enjoyed, a few of her favorites included: sewing, knitting, quilting, gardening, cooking, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, the Wayside Garden Club, and the Knit Knot Sisters.
Laura will be dearly missed by her sons: David (Dayle) Ruhl of Anchorage, Alaska and Edwin (Judy) of Mount Gilead; daughter-in-law, Vicky Ruhl of Mount Gilead; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; sister-in-laws: Ruth Woodward of Fletcher and Boots Ruhl of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons: Frank Ruhl and Robert “Bob” Ruhl; 2 great grandchildren; brothers: Foster, Leonard, Clyde, and LeRoy Woodward; and a sister, Caroline Allen.
Her family will greet friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338) A service celebrating her going home to be with the Lord will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Ray Linn officiating. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
