Laura E. Robinson

January 19, 1931 ‒ June 02, 2012

Cardington, Ohio

Laura E. Robinson, age 81, of Cardington, died Saturday morning, June 2, 2012, at the Kobacker House in Columbus.

On January 19, 1931, Laura was born in Marysville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Raymond and Edith (Brown) Wenger.

Laura married the unconditional love of her life, Wilbur Ray Robinson, on December 24, 1950 in Fulton, Ohio. Together they shared over 51 wonderful years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 13, 2002.

For 40 years, Laura was employed by Ranco Inc. in their Delaware plant. There, she worked on the assembly line and also operated plastic molding presses in her later years. She retired from Ranco in 1989.

Laura shared in her love of the Lord by attending Gilead Friends Church.

She enjoyed hopping on her Grasshopper mower and taking care of her lawn and also the lawns of her neighboring family. By the time she was finished she would mow about six acres. In the evenings she relaxed by watching westerns and Wheel of Fortune.

The most important piece of Laura’s life was her family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of them, holding the little babies, and taking the kids out for rides on her lawn mower. Hosting holiday family dinners at her home was also very significant to her. She would make a huge feast that always included her renowned sweet rolls, and then spend the day enjoying the company of her family.

Laura will be remembered as a wonderful mom who always looked out for everyone. She was always appreciative of the little things in life and was very grateful for everything she had as well as all of the love she shared.

Laura will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Diane Thompson and Teresa (Doug) Baldwin, both of Cardington; five grandchildren: Steve Thompson, Lonnie (Kristen) Thompson, Michelle (Doug) Baldwin, Alissa (Mike) Cramblitt, Ryan (Kari) Gibbs, all of Cardington; 14 great-grandchildren: Brittany, Tonya, Betty, Hayley, Tucker, Taylor, Katie, Lizzie, Evan, Michael, Hunter, Trista, Alaina, and Abbey; two sisters: Jean Sherburne of Marysville, Betty (Larry) Clark of Nashport; and two brothers: Fred (Marilyn) Wenger of Cardington, Charlie (Jane) Wenger of Marysville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wenger, and two brothers: John and George Wenger.

Laura’s family will greet friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will be held there immediately following at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Mosher officiating. A private family burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Cardington at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Laura’s family would appreciate gifts of sympathy or that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Gilead Friends Church.
