Larry Wayne Grindle

April 12, 1944 ‒ December 28, 2020

Apple Valley, Ohio

Larry Wayne Grindle, 76, of Apple Valley, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center following a courageous battle with declining health issues.  He was born on April 12, 1944 in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Gerald and Marian (Totman) Grindle.

Larry was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  What he loved the most was to share his life and faith with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.  He was the happiest when they were entertaining and boating at his house on the lake in his back yard or just to sitting on the dock talking.  Larry enjoyed his trips and extended vacations to Sanibel Island, Florida to spend time on the beach fishing for that “big one”.

He graduated from Highland High School in 1962 and from Ashland College in 1966; with a BS in Education and with a degree in Accounting.  He worked as a CPA until 1997.  On May 8, 1997 he purchased Patented Products in Danville, Ohio, running it with his son Dan.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Beulah (Vermillion) Grindle, whom he married on November 25, 1960; his children, Larry J. (Kim) and their children, Rachel, Sarah and Matthew; Sandra M. (Dave) Moson and their children, David, Derek, and Diana; and Daniel (Kimberly) and their children, Raygin and Sierra; his sister, Nancy Bodnar and brother, Martin Grindle.

Due to the current health situation, the family will observe a private service.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made, in his name, to Trinity Assembly of God Worship Center, 1051 Beech Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050, GoForth Missions, P.O. Box 26863, Salt Lake City, UT, 84126 or a charity of the donor’s choosing.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Larry was a very generous and loving man. Especially to his family. Bless all of you, especially Beulah. May God comfort you and walk with you through this very difficult time.

  • So sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. What a great guy he was! Recalling special memories of our trip to Jamaica with you both to build a house for the unprivileged. Please accept our deepest condolences.

  • Larry was a tremendous blessing. I will remember the wisdom that he shared over the years. It is an honor to have known him and to have called him friend. Blessings to all of the family, what a great example he was. I will miss him very much.

  • Thinking of my “larger than life” uncle who always opened his & Aunt Beulah’s houses for birthday parties & Thanksgivings when we were kids & all of us cousins would run around the big yard or play hide & seek at the big house on Fixler Rd. And then from there to allowing us to always enjoy boating, tubing & skiing at the lake houses on Apple Valley. He always welcomed my mom (Nancy) & I & then my son, Drew, & even some of his friends & he would take the time to try to teach them how to water ski. I think they all loved the tubing best, but he & aunt Beulah always made sure we had great memories & we would just cook food together–our favorite dinner being the fresh fish Uncle Larry caught. I will always smile when I think of him, but life here on 3arth won’t be quite the same without him. Although, I’m sure the folks in heaven are now smiling & feeling pretty lucky. And I know our Lord has welcomed him with open arms!! We all love you Uncle & you will be with us forever!!

  • Continued thoughts and prayers to the Grindle family. Larry was a special person and had a remarkable relationship with family. Dispute his health issues, Larry still made it out west big game hunting.

  • I admire Larry and Beulah so much. They have blessed me and inspired me deeply. If the Lord had blessed me with a brother I would have wanted him to be like Larry.
I shall remember Larry the way he opened the bags of goodies a few weeks ago. He was delighted and overjoyed; singing Christmas songs and songs from Sunday school. I shall miss him tremendously.

  • I can’t believe you are gone. You will be missed.
I was 14 or 15 when I met Mr. Grindle. I was helping Danny on his truck. He came out to the garage with a spoon to get some ice cream out of the freezer. He ate the entire half gallon right there!! Just wow!
I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences my friend.

We thank God for his faith in God and his testimony and all the people he touched with his life in Christ and testimony. He was a blessing in service at his church, community and the Gospel he shared everywhere. I appreciated his wisdom and prayers . I met many people that were touched by his life, leadership and his church. Beulah and his family were good to him and blessed him until he went home to be with Jesus. His Christian family and friends will see him again in Heaven.

  • To Larry’s family we are so sorry for your loss. You were so blessed to have had him as your husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and sibling. We were only able to know him for several years during one of many home group studies he and Beulah hosted.
Larry, and Beulah, have touched so many lives in their 60 years of marriage. Always caring for everyone God sent to them.
We are sure that Larry has heard God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
    Continued prayers for the family.
    We love you.

  • My dear cousins, it is sad to lose Larry to all this darn stuff which he had and he fought hard for years. He always enjoyed the outside activities. Remember when we were on Lake Erie and the waves were suppose to lay down but instead we decided to go to shore. We all were a little sea sick by the time we docked his boat. There are so many great memories of when we were kids and Nancy Larry and I would play in the barn or corn cribs. Larry helped on the farm as much as his health would let him. His trips to Canada fishing , and out west with his son Larry J to hunt. There are so many times he so enjoyed life to the fullest. God gained an Angel when Larry went to heaven, The family will miss him but he is in no pain now. God comfort all the family Faye and Dale

  • Dear Beaulah & family,
A difficult time for you all. It sounds like you all had a truly loving & fun filled life. Full of wonderful friends & memories.
I so remember you at our home in Granger with Gail, Terry Burton, Sandy Bodley & of course me. ‘Tag along’ younger sister. You all had such fun.
I especially recall the Sunday morning when Gail’s precious dog had to be rushed to vet. She & mom rushed off with ‘Tippy’ & you & I took care of our new baby brother. I was so glad you were there.
I remember times at your home your 2 or 3 cocker spaniels & your dear mom. You were the youngest of your siblings. Gail really enjoyed your friendship. Meant a lot.
Then graduation & we all grew up & off we went, separate ways. It sounds as though you & Larry had a remarkable life. Full & complete. Take care & god bless you all. Merle Davis Gill

  • Peace be with Beulah and family. Larry is a wonderful man, one of my fond memories of him was on a mission trip in Jamaica with Larry and Beulah I still remember our late night conversations after we had spent the day building a house for a Jamaican lady. You will be missed greatly!

  • Dear Beulah and family,

I pray God’s comfort and strength for you. I rejoice knowing Larry is with Jesus, my Dad and all the others dear to him, but realize what a deep empty place he leaves behind. What a good man he was here on earth, and now in heaven!

Much love to you and family.

  • Dear Beulah and family,
I will always remember the bible study we had several years ago at our house. It was a great time and I learned so much. I sat next to Larry that day. He had such great faith. Love always.

  • I was fortunate to meet Larry about five years ago. A special time was after I received a diagnosis requiring lung surgery, Larry and Beulah called to pray with me prior to the surgery. Also other times he has prayed with me for my health. Those time were important to me. He and Beulah are so hospitable. I really enjoyed fishing with him at Apple Valley and the lessons he gave me in surf fishing at the Outer Banks. I am going to miss him and his kindness.

Your lives have been such an example of serving the Lord with all of your hearts. You have raised and been blessed with an amazing family. Larry is with our Lord and a fine example of a life well-lived. PSALM 147:3 Amp “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [healing their pain and comforting their sorrow].”

  • Mr. Grindle lived a good life and left a wonderful wife and family who I know tremendously miss him. May he rest in eternal peace.

  • Craig Nell says: Dear Beulah and family, I am so saddened that will not see Larry again here on Earth, and for your great loss. I was so glad to see him a short while ago when I came to Ohio. I always admired Larry. He was my basketball hero when I was small. Then he became one of my heroes of the faith, when we met for bible study at the Weckers. I was so thankful and inspired by his stories of God using him and Beulah on the mission field and in daily life; to bring the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. I look forward to spending time with him in heaven. I pray the Holy Spirit comforts and empowers you, Beulah and family.
