Larry “Moose” Bowen, age 77 of Galena passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Grant Medical Center.

He was born on August 1, 1940 in Columbus to the late Robert and Sylvia (DisBennett) Bowen. Moose worked as a Union carpenter with Local #200 for South Texas Drywall.  Truly one of a kind, he was always happy and never met a stranger.

A member of Sunbury FOE #3614, he often played Santa Claus for the Eagles and area nursing homes. An outdoorsman at heart he enjoyed feeding the animals.  He was a fan of fishing on any body of water and hunting in his younger years. He also collected fishing gear.

His greatest passion was watching dirt track racing, especially Potts Racing, his son and grandson’s team. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who treasured spending time with his family. Simply put he was one of a kind.

He is survived by his beloved wife and companion of 37 years Marjorie (Hubbard), son Kevin (Debbie) Potts of Sunbury, daughter Kim Potts of Delaware, 8 grandchildren: David Hiller, Holly Gray, David Potts, Adam Potts, Bobby Mayes, Billy Mumaw, Travis Potts, Lydia Moore,10 great-grandchildren: Taeler, Meah, Myleigh, Kayde, Emma, Bradon, Breya, Kennedy, Zoey, Abby, and his brother Steve (Becky) Bowen.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St. Rt. 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 where services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Donnie Akers officiating.
