BELLVILLE: Larry G. Mellott passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020.  He was 83.

He was born November 4, 1937 in Mansfield to the late Edwin and Martha (Greer) Mellott.

Larry proudly worked over 50 years as a crane operator for Fisher Body and General Motors in Ontario,  until the plant closed in 2009.

In his spare time he spent countless hours at Mansfield Motor Sports Speedway drag racing bikes and stock cars.

An avid raccoon hunter, Larry scheduled his work shifts around his nocturnal hunting schedule.  Over the years he owned several hounds who were his best companions and pursuing partners.

He is survived by his sons Larry Mellott of Glendale, Arizona, and Keith Mellott of Bellville; three grandchildren Brandon Mellott of Howard, Brianna Mellott of Ashland and Marissa Mellott of Phoenix, Arizona; five great grandchildren Logan, Arianna, Jackson, Emma Rose and Oliver; and a brother Delbert Mellott of Bellville.

A private graveside service will be held in Zion Four Corners Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

  • This is devastating news. Larry became a great friend while working at a local restaurant . His humor and orneriness along with that grin , will be missed by many . I’m so glad I got to share a small part of his life .
