Larry Eldon Funk, 59, of Galion, died unexpectedly Monday, March 29, 2010 at Galion Community Hospital after an apparent heart attack.

Born August 4, 1950 in Toledo, he was the son of the late Harry and Boneita Heiter Funk. He married Erika Ann La Van Funk on May 31, 1981 and she survives.

Larry graduated from Mac Cumber High School in Toledo, the University of Toledo receiving a Bachelors degree and Huntington College in Indiana, where he earned Theology degree. A member of Galion Christian Missionary Alliance Church, he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon and an elder. He kept busy working on scale model cars, enjoyed music and helping others.

After college Larry was a detail draftsman in Toledo for Tillotson Manufacturing, now Borg Warner. In 1981 he moved to Galion, when he married his wife, and has worked various places in and around the Galion area. He has also previously served as a church pastor.

In addition to his wife, Erika, he is also survived by his father-in-law and step-mother-in-law, Walter and Doris La Van of Galion and one brother-in-law, Glenn E. La Van of Mt. Gilead.

He was preceded in death by one step-brother.

At Larry’s request, no calling hours or funeral services will be held. He will be buried next to his parents in Heath-Colton Cemetery in Henry County.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
