Lalah M. Darst, 81, of Delaware, passed away on Friday (Dec. 12, 2008) at her residence. She was born April 15, 1927 in Marion to the late Hoy A. and Lalah A. (Webster) Tennar. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Grady Memorial Hospital in housecleaning for a number of years. She enjoyed reading novels, embroidering and watching Ohio State University football. She is survived by her husband, Albert E. Darst, whom she married April 12, 1951 by the Rev. Burl S. Brown in the Grace Methodist Church Parsonage; three sons, Richard E. (Raechel) Darst of Delaware, Steven E. (Gertrude) Darst of Cardington and Delbert E. (Debbie) Darst of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph W. Tennar of Marion; and one sister, Melva Jean Arnold of Marion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John David Tennar and Hoy Eugene Tennar; and two sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Aldrich and Lucille Irene Landers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. H. Wayne Keith, pastor of the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church, officiating. The burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Those in attendance are invited to join the family for a luncheon and a chance to continue the fellowship in the Rodman Neeper Community Room following the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the Council for Older Adults in Delaware or to the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Delaware.
