Lacy Carter Marcum II, age 34, of Ashley, died early Friday morning, August 29, 2008, at his parents residence following a lifelong battle with numerous illnesses.

He was born on December 31, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Lacy Carter and Charlotte (Rinehart) Marcum. Lacy graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in the Class of 1993.

A lifelong resident of Ashley, Lacy worked as a grocery clerk for Kroger’s in Delaware.

Having a uniquely creative and brilliant mind, Lacy always challenged himself to learn more and do better. Recently, he has built several custom computers for his family and friends that they were amazed by.

An avid sports fan, Lacy proudly cheered for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

With a true love of cars, Lacy was most proud of tearing down and rebuilding a 1969 Camaro with his father. He could often be found under the car with three cats sitting on him while he worked.

After having ridden on his parents’ motorcycle when he was younger, Lacy always wanted to ride his own Harley Davidson motorcycle which he working diligently to get. In the meantime, he enjoyed getting exercise while riding his bicycle to his parents’ home that was more than four miles away.

Having five fish tanks at home, Lacy enjoyed raising all types of fish and he even had two catfish that grew to be one foot long.

Always smiling, Lacy loved life and made friends everywhere he went with his charming personality.

Lacy will be dearly missed by his parents: Lacy and Charlotte Marcum of Ashley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Spot; and cat, Stripes.

The Marcum family will greet friends on Sunday from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead, where services celebrating his life will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
