L. Peggy Coffin

March 29, 1939 ‒ July 11, 2018

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Peggy Coffin, age 79, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 11, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born on March 29, 1939, to the late Ellis C. and Virgie (Thacker) Meadows in Maryland. She was a 1956 graduate of Chesterville High School.

On April 14, 1963, Peggy married the love of her life, Robert G. Coffin whom preceded her in death on October 30, 1992.

A woman of faith, Peggy was a member of Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church. She also was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Woman’s Auxiliary.

As a housewife, taking care of her family was her number one priority. She was funny, friendly, sassy, and had a story to tell. If you didn’t have time for her story, you better make time as she was going to tell it anyway. Peggy never met a stranger and she was definitely one of the strongest women you’ll ever meet. Her favorite past time was watching Naked and Afraid, Fox News and the Grand Ole Opry of which she often roped her family into watching.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Bob (Carol Thompson) Coffin of Mount Gilead; grandchildren: Beth (Mark) Hedrick of Mansfield, Bobby (Kierstin Grossman) Coffin of Mount Gilead, Donnie (Mallory) Deel of Mildford, MI, Alesha (Jonathon) Kunk of Dayton, and Amanda Humphrey of Norwalk; great grandchildren: Maddie and Corbin Hedrick, baby girl coffin, and Maya, Mitchell, and Max Deel; a brother, Ralph (Chris) Meadows of South Point, OH; a sister, June Studer of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons: Vincent J. Coffin and Steve Deel; and brother, Curtis Meadows.

Family will greet friends from NOON to 2 PM, Monday, July 16, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338) A service to celebrate her life will be held there at 2 PM with Celebrant Galen McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
