L. Erma Arehart

LEXINGTON: L. Erma Arehart, 100, of Frederick Street, Lexington, died Wednesday morning July 9, 2003 in Lexington Court Care Center.
She was born December 17, 1902 near Lucas on the farm that would become Malabar Farm, to Clement and Maude Schrack Herring, and remained a lifelong Richland County resident.
A homemaker, Mrs. Arehart had worked as a housemother at the YWCA through the 1960’s, and enjoyed sewing and traveling.
She was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Martha Arehart of Lucas and Robert and Margaret Arehart of Lexington; four granddaughters and their husbands Susan and Mike Johnson of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Catherine and Bruce Bachelder and Laura and Jeff Carter all of Lexington and Deborah Arehart of Mansfield; seven great grandchildren; twin great great granddaughters; and a sister Lucille Reed of Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her husband George L. Arehart on February 4, 1961; an infant daughter Margaret; and three sisters Rhea Studebaker, Florence Wheaton and Freeda Faust.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 11 am in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The Rev. Cloyd Kress will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call the hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions to First English Lutheran Church or the Malabar Farm Foundation may be made at the funeral home.
