Kenny M. Bartley, age 64, of Newton, TX and formerly of Edison, OH, passed away Monday morning, June 20, 2016 at his home.

On October 23, 1951, Kenny was born in Pikeville, KY, the son of the late Jay and Rachel (Ratliff) Staley.  He graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1970.

Throughout the years, Kenny managed several different printing companies.

Kenny truly loved racing.  He was a big NASCAR fan, always cheering for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Junior.  He enjoyed stock drag racing at Marion Co. International Raceway in LaRue and at Pacemakers Dragway Park in Mount Vernon.  He also spent time mud trucking in Florida.  Equally, he loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting and fishing.

Kenny’s family always held a special place in his heart, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved to be a jokester with.  He will always be remembered as a goofy, happy and outgoing man.

Kenny will be dearly missed by his six children: Ken (Cara) Bartley of Marana, AZ, Candy (Sam) Cox of Marengo, Amy Garner of Cardington, Patrick Garner of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle Bartley of Cardington, Rochelle (James II) Pleasant of Fremont, OH; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and another on the way; two brothers: Donald (Helen) Potter of Leesville, OH, Kirby (Sue) Potter of Mansfield; and three sisters: Claudia Potter of Pikeville, KY, Carolyn Butler of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Marilyn (Richard) Hudgel of Mount Gilead.

Kenny’s family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mt. Gilead.  Services to honor and celebrate his life will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, with Pastor Jason Harding officiating.  Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be directed to Snyder Funeral Home to assist Kenny’s family with funeral expenses.

  • I am so sorry. I have always loved uncle Kenny. He let me come and stay. With him and aunt judy for a couple of months in Florida and this was one of the best parts of my life. Tomorrow will be 6 years since my brother passed away and I know that Kenny is there now keeping him straight. I hope you all know how much I love you as I did him.

  • Kenny and I went to school together and ran around a lot after we was out of school. Worked with his stepdad, Jay Staley at HPM. Kenny was always in a good mood. Will always remember his smile and laugh. So sorry to hear of his passing
