Kenneth E. Gallogly

Kenneth E. Gallogly, age 92 of Marengo died Sunday evening, October 22, 2017 at Bennington Glen Nursing Home in Marengo.

He was born April 8, 1925 in Sunbury, Ohio the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Bebout) Gallogly.

Kenneth was a lifelong member of Marengo and Sunbury area, graduating from Sunbury High School in 1943 and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.

Following his time in the service, Kenneth worked at the Sunbury Mill before moving on to North American Rockwell where he worked in the shipping department for over 35 years.  He also was a farmer for most of his life.

He married Helen L. Baughman on October 8, 1949 in Blueridge, Kentucky.  The beginning of this month marked 68 years together as husband and wife.  Together they were members of the Chesterville United Methodist Church for 56 years and the Wayne Grange #262.

Kenneth also played on the Chesterville and Wayne Grange Dartball Teams.

He will be missed by his wife Helen; their children Gary E. (Brenda K. Shock) of Fredericktown, Sarah Mae (William “Bill”) Storer of Cardington, Rick (Christine M. Caldwell) of Marengo, Rebecca S. (Billy Jr.) Miller of Bellefontaine, and James A. (Deborah Guden) of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother Marvin (Vivian) of Westerville; grandchildren Lance, Brady, Patty, Michael, Carina, Dominick, Raniya, Cobee, Andrea, Garrett, Galen, Jennifer, Kimberly, Cheryl, Steve, Bobby, Shadrick, and Stefanie; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and step-mother he was preceded in death by his brother Harold; sister Helen Metzger; son-in-law William M. “Bill” Storer; and grandson Caleb Robert Gallogly.

Friends may call on the family on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074.  Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Committal services with full military honors will follow at 12:30 PM at Mount Vernon Memorial Garden.

I remember when I was very young and my Mom and Dad would take us to your house for Bible Study, and seeing them in Church on Sunday, and whenever I would see them in later years they would always stop and talk to me.     So sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. He was such a good man. Always giving to others and had a smile for everyone he met. I remember square dancing with him at the Grange Hall many years ago. He was very kind and will be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God grant you peace in knowing you will see him again.

  • Helen and family, I am saddened to read of Kenneth’s passing. I was not aware of him being at Bennington until I saw you at the Sheriff’s Office Halloween get-together. I was blessed by our visit. You and your family have my sincere condolences. I have such good memories from our long friendship.
