Kelsey May Rinehart

August 19, 1984 ‒ December 21, 2018

Marion, Ohio

Kelsey May Rinehart, age 34 of Marion, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018.

Kelsey was born on August 19, 1984 in Marion, the daughter of Floyd and Cindy (Holford) Smith. She was a graduate of Kenton Senior High.

On July 2, 2003, Kelsey was united in marriage to Bryan Rinehart. The couple made their home in Marion and had three beautiful children.

Kelsey was a woman filled with genuine kindness and love for everyone she knew. She had a way of making everyone feel important and valued. It was the Rinehart house that all of the neighborhood kids wanted to go to because they loved being around Kelsey and they knew she would take them all for ice cream. Her smile would easily light up a room; she was as beautiful inside as she was on the outside. She had an artistic side and she liked to sketch, draw and paint pictures. Kelsey had an eye for decorating and turned the house they lived in into a home. Truly knowing Kelsey was to know that she had a deep passion for music. She grew up listening to music around the house, enjoying classic vinyl records. She didn’t limit herself to just one genera of music but enjoyed a wide array. Music spoke to her deeply and she used it to guide her life. She always said her music playlist was a window into her head and heart.

She will be missed by her husband Bryan Rinehart; her children: Mason Matthew, Brayden Darrell, and Marissa May; her mother and step-father Cindy Smith and Jerry McCloud; mother-in-law Diane Rinehart; and her brother Ryan Smith.

Kelsey is preceded in death by her father Floyd Smith and father-in-law Karl Rinehart.

Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018 at Family Life Church, 2209 Marion- Waldo Road, Marion from 3PM to 7PM; Celebration of Kelsey’s life will be Saturday at the church at 1PM with Pastor Tom Toney officiating; Burial will be held privately for the family.

In memory of Kelsey, donations may be sent to Pleasant Local Schools.

  • I am so deeply sorry for what happened to a beautiful woman and kind friend and although we were in school to kindergarden thru 11th together at kenton senior high I don’t know much of her other than that I wish I could say more. I was and am still in shock that anything of this nature would ever happen to her. God has gained a beautiful heart and soul and all of the family has a sweet garden angel.

  • Bryan, I am just heartbroken and in shock as I just learned of Kelsey’s passing. I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I am for you and your beautiful children. Picking out window treatments at Lowe’s for you two, Kelsey and I became friends. She was like a daughter to me. We would text late at night when you were working or out of the country. We had lost touch recently, but all
I know is how much she loved her family and how full of life she was . I am just heartbroken . If you need anything , or the kids do, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I can’t imagine how difficult this has to be for you. I’m so very sorry for such an enormous loss. Kelsey will always be remembered for that frenetic personality and her beautiful smile.
