Kay W. McGinnis, 64, of Mount Gilead died late Tuesday night, January 1, 2008 at the Riverside Methodist hospital in Columbus.
She was born on April 11, 1943 in Medina, Ohio the daughter of the late Lyman and Alice (Packard) Chidsey.
Kay grew up in Medina, graduating from Medina High School and has been a member of the Morrow County community since moving here from Columbus in 1976.
She wore various hats in and around Mount Gilead. You may remember her as the manager at Country Girl restaurant or helping out at Keith’s Flower Shop. She also worked at the truck stop and Wendy’s, both at the freeway. Most recently she worked at the Town Pump, Deli and Gas Station, doing a little bit of everything. All her talents enabled Kay to make many friends and help many people along the way.
While Kay enjoyed reading, her true hobby was keeping track of her large family. Her travels took her to see family all over the country.
Her family will tell you, Kay was at all times open to a new adventure or idea; always willing to go with the flow.
She will be missed by her children Ronda (Tom) Stevens of Mount Gilead, Vint (Nancy) Whitman of Eugene, Oregon, Patrick (Tracy Shigley) McGinnis in Iraq, Victoria (Adam Walp) Whitman of Eugene, Oregon, Colleen (Tim Shigley) of Columbus, and Shanna (Clay Bales) McGinnis of Aurora, Colorado; two brothers Len (Georgene) Chidsey of Medina and Walt (Becky) Chidsey of Destin, Florida; two sisters Mary ( Rick) Wehr of Green Castle, Pennsylvania and Linnie Chidsy of Columbus; 6 grandchildren Jodi Stevens, Alec and Cela Whitman, Kelly and Melissa McGinnis, and Madison Feltner; boyfriend Norm Sharp; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday January 6, 2008 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mary C. Wehr officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
