Kathy Sargent

March 23, 1940 ‒ January 03, 2018

Bellville, Ohio

BELLVILLE: Smiles are contagious, and Kathy Sargent brightened the room with her pleasant personality and vibrant smile.  A lady of tremendous integrity, she served with love, just as her loving savior.  Her faith now sight, Kathleen Ann Sargent, 77, lifelong Bellville resident, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2018 following an extended illness.

The daughter of Harold Frye and Roberta McCauley Frye Schroer, Kathy was born March 23, 1940 in Mansfield and graduated from Bellville High School.

Kathy attended airline school for American Airlines at the Humboldt Institute.  She retired from United Telephone in 2007.

Living her faith, Kathy served as a missionary in Barbados.  Unwavering in her faith, Kathy never compromised her values.  Extremely generous, she placed everyone before herself.  She volunteered for meals on wheels and was a member of New Life Church of Christ.  Kathy loved to worship, singing praise songs both to her children and occasionally for Sunday morning specials.

Kathy loved to shop.  She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden.  She baked for her family and favorites included texas sheet cake and dish pan cookies, in which she generously gave away.

A loving grandma, and affectionately known as “Grandma Bootie”, Kathy was intentional in connecting with the interests of her grandsons.  Sometimes fishing, digging in the dirt or working on puzzles, Kathy loved spending time with Josh and Zach.

Kathy is survived by her husband Leroy Sargent of Fredericktown; son Joel Calhoon of Hilliard and daughter Lori (Evan) Jacobs of New Albany; grandsons Josh Berk and Zach Jacobs; sister Sherry (Les) Hauenstein of Bellville; “adopted sister” Melissa Brokaw of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family will receive friends Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 11am-1pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 1pm.   Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Capital City Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
