December 14, 1956 ‒ July 22, 2018
Kathie Lynn (Lee) Hoffman, age 61, of Marion, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital following a two year battle with ovarian and lung cancer.
On December 14, 1956, Kathie was born in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert E. Dix and Roberta (Capehart) Lee. Growing up, she moved around the area, finally settling in Caledonia. Kathie attended River Valley Schools from eighth grade to eleventh grade, when she moved back to Marion and graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1976. During those years, she developed a special bond with her late step-father, Edwin “Eddie” Lee.
For over 40 years, Kathie worked at the Whirlpool Corporation in Marion, from where she recently retired. While there, she met her husband to be, David C. Hoffman, whom she married on October 20, 1990. She and David were always by each other’s side for the past twenty seven years.
An avid sports fan, Kathie loved rooting on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and her favorite NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. She also enjoyed reading a good romance novel, watching her favorite tv shows, and cooking for her husband, David.
For several years, Kathie and David enjoyed attending the Mt. Vernon Ave. Church of Christ, where they built a great rapport with their elder Bryan White.
One tough woman and a little bit of a “tomboy”, Kathie fought her cancer with all of her might. She fought for her husband, David, whom she cherished every moment with.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, David Hoffman; a sister, Michelle Nolan; one brother, Dwight “David” Dix, all of Marion; 13 nieces and nephews; and 16 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathie was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Dix; brother, Shawn Dix; an infant brother, Michael Dix; an infant half-brother, Dirk Lee; her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
