Karen Sue Jacobs

October 15, 1950 ‒ July 07, 2015

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Love is a strong word with emotion, but what better word to describe Karen Jacobs than love. From listening to music, 50’s and 60’s music were her favorite, to watching old movies and gameshows, to gardening or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, Karen was one to enjoy life. Above all else, her kind-heart and love fueled her passions in life.

Karen Jacobs passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was 64.

She was born October 15, 1950 to parents Gerald & Naomi (Kennedy) Jacobs in Mansfield. Karen was graduated from Ontario High School with the class of 1968.

Karen was one who loved animals. There’s an old saying that goes “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Karen took that saying to heart by working at Shelby Animal Clinic as a veterinary assistant.

She is survived by her siblings Shirley Joan (Curtis) Cook of Dayton, Norma (Roger) Shaull of Mansfield, Peggy (George) Carver of Lexington, Jack (Judy) Jacobs of Mansfield, Richard (Patti) Jacobs of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Ken (Kathy) Jacobs of Fairfield, Frank (Norma) Jacobs of Mansfield, Don (Loraine) Jacobs of Mansfield, Sally (Tom) Sedlacek of Mansfield and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald & Naomi (Kennedy) Jacobs and brother Gary Jacobs.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Karen will be held at a later date. The family hopes that you will hold her in your heart as you remember her.

For contributions in her memory to Richland County Humane Society can be sent to them at 3025 Park Ave W, Ontario, OH 44906.

  • I met Karen when I started working at Shelby Animal Clinic many years ago.
It was a joy to come to work everyday because Karen always made work seem fun. Always joking and having a bright smile on her face as she told us about the lastest stories about her critters. No animals would go hungry around Karen’s house she made sure of that. She fed them all. I will truly miss you Karen. You touched so many lives and were so brave. I never heard you complain not once. You were a amazing lady and now you can you can rest.

  • Jim and I are so very sorry for the loss of Sue. We knew Sue through our brother-in-law Dick and my sister Patti. She certainly had a special place in her heart for animals. Always smiling and so friendly. Very sweet person.
A very strong and brave woman fought a difficult battle and can now rest and be with her family in heaven. Thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones as they come together to celebrate her life. Sue will be missed by many.
Love to all, Jim and Becki Watson
