Karen L. Frye, age 61, of Monroe Mills Road, Mount Vernon, died Wednesday July 30, 2003 from injuries received in an automobile accident near Danville. She was born October 21, 1941 in Mount Vernon to William Kenneth Payne and Norma (Bryan) Payne and had spent her lifetime in Knox County.

She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the Sew and Sew Club. Karen had been a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her son the Honorable Allen (Marian) Frye of Danville; her daughter Connie (Timothy) La Forest of Lockport, New York; her “adopted” daughter Kimberly (Thomas) Groshong of Fredericktown; 7 grandchildren Carmen, Jordan, Allyn, Kathryn, Michaela, Hannah and Ian Frye; 2 sisters Jean Gaumer of Mount Vernon and Ann (Lee) Farley of Howard; her brother Richard (Joanne) Payne of Mount Vernon and her brother-in-law Loren (Janet) Fickle of Mount Vernon. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Peter Allen Frye and her sister twin Kay Fickle.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Monday at 2 PM with Rev. Dale Sanford officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
