MANSFIELD: June Dale Morehead, age 62, of West cook Road, Mansfield, died Sunday March 31, 2002 in OSU Medical Center, Columbus, following a short illness.

She was born January 9, 1940 in Charleston WV to James Carson and Mary Dale (Furner) Haney, was graduated from Johnsville High School in 1957 and had been a lifelong area resident.

June was an active member of Oak Hill Historical Society and the Ohio Genealogical Society, having researched the history of both the Haney and Morehead families. She also belonged to the National Button Society, and was a avid collector of antique and contemporary buttons.

A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed floral arranging, cake decorating and making quilts for her family members.

June is survived by her husband Gerald E. Morehead whom she married June 4, 1961; two sons David P. Morehead of Los Angeles, CA and Thomas S. Morehead of Mansfield, a grandson Logan Lee Morehead of Mansfield, a brother and sister-in-law James C., Jr. and Judith Haney of Dennison; a sister and brother-in law Gertrude and Richard Backensto of Mansfield; her mother-in-law Iva Morehead of Mansfield; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Evelyn and Daryl Wilcox, Millie and Elmer Morehead and Barb Mangan all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three half sisters Judith Goodale, Laura Mae DeRose and Virginia Watson and a half brother Robert Furner.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm today Tuesday April 2, 2002 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 pm. Pastor Bob Beaty will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
