Bucyrus and formerly of Mount Gilead, Ohio
Judy M. McAvoy, age 64, of Bucyrus and formerly of Mount Gilead, died early Friday morning, December 9, 2011, at the Ohio State University Medical Center following an extended illness.
On January 1, 1947, Judy was born in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” Strait and Tina Mae (Pruitt) Casto.
A loving and honest homemaker, Judy took great pride in caring for and raising her three children. Most of all though, she loved and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. She also adored her Pomeranian pups.
For many years, Judy worked as a housekeeper for the Smith Clinic in Marion.
An excellent seamstress, Judy could sew and crochet anything she set her mind to. She also loved riding motorcycles and making crafts with her grandchildren.
Judy will be dearly missed by her three children: Valorie (Peter) Ray of Grove City, Mike (Carol) McAvoy of Mount Gilead, and Mindi McAvoy (Austin Davis) of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren: Megan (Jesse) Dulebohn, Brittany Lambert, Zackary, Elizabeth, and Keegan McAvoy, Andrew Ray, and Kierra McAvoy; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Dulebohn.
Services honoring Judy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead, with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating.
Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of her family to help them through their hardships.
