Judy J. Lance
June 09, 1941 ‒ January 03, 2021
Formerly of Marion, Ohio
Judy J. Lance, age 79, of Dahlonega, GA, and formerly of Marion, OH, passed away Sunday evening, January 3, 2021, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, OH, surrounded by her loving family.
On June 9, 1941, Judy was born in Akron, OH, a daughter of the late Aubrey Lee and Ollie Vashti (Smith) Ensley. She graduated from Barberton High School in the Class of 1959 and then furthered her education at the Dean Call School of Design in Columbus.
Judy married the love of her life, John “Roger” Lance, on December 13, 1958, in Akron, OH. They lovingly shared over 61 years together before Roger preceded her in death on November 21, 2020.
First and foremost, Judy was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She also worked outside the home reupholstering furniture, working in a design studio, and even made wedding cakes for others.
A woman of faith, Judy was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church in Marion, OH. She enjoyed helping in the nursery and loved teaching Sunday school classes. The last several years she attended and was a member of the Concord Baptist Church, Dahlonega Campus.
Judy was a very crafty woman and her true passion was quilting. She belonged to several quilting clubs and continuously had numerous projects going at once. She always wanted to learn the newest trend in quilting and would master each lesson quickly.
Spending time with family was very important to Judy. She had a real soft spot for her grandchildren. She wanted people around her all of the time. If you needed something or a place to stay, her house was always open. Judy may have been more reserved in her outward expressions of love, but if she loved you, you absolutely knew it.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Tonya (Chris) Plough of Mount Gilead, OH, Todd Lance of Moore, OK, Terra (Ken) Kelly of Columbia, SC, Trent Lance of Dahlonega, GA, Tiffany (Chris) Barnes of Gray, GA, Tristen (Nick) Parrish of Dahlonega, GA; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Linda Conaway of Dahlonega, GA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tasha Lance.
Memorial services to honor and celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at the Concord Baptist Church, Dahlonega Campus, 1312 S. Chestatee, Dahlonega, GA, with Pastor Jeff Pulliam and son-in-law, Pastor Chris Plough officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Snyder Funeral Homes to assist her family with funeral expenses.
