Juan “John” Ignacio Aguon, 66, of Delaware, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2008 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on July 10, 1941 in Chalan Pago, Guam to the late Jose Manglona Aguon and Emperatriz Ignacio Aguon. While living in Guam, Mr. Aguon was employed as a police officer for many years. In 1979, he moved to San Diego, CA, and then in 1990 he moved to Delaware. He enjoyed singing, playing his guitar and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed listening to Chamorro type music, as well as 50’s and 60’s music. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware.
He is lovingly remembered by his large family.
He is survived by his wife- Trinidad “Dade” (Tenorio) Aguon, whom he married on June 24, 1961; 8 daughters- Virginia (Frank) Hall of Redding, CA, Maryjane (Aaron Jason) Cole of Delaware, Rosalind (Ray) Megia of Las Vegas, NV, Joyce Aguon of Columbus, Lourdes Aguon of Columbus, Grace Blondet of Columbus, Janice (Aaron) Ross of Columbus and Jennifer Aguon of Columbus; 4 sons- John Michael (Christine) Aguon, Glen (Catalina) Aguon, Christopher Aguon and Mark (Laverna) Aguon, all of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 4 sisters- Josephine (Patrick) Aumann of Lakeside, CA, Rose (Russell) Hatfield of Guam, Dorothy (Samuel) Cedillo of Lemon Grove, CA and Sylvia (Andrew) Kraft of Bucyrus; 4 brothers- Vicente “Ben” (Pacita) Aguon of Hagatna, Guam, Jesus “Jess” (Madaline) Aguon of Monroe City, MO, Antonio “Tony” (Prasert) Aguon of Winton, CA and Joseph “Joe” (Jeanne “Darlene”) Aguon of Fayetteville, N.C.; and 28 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents that have preceded him in death, are 2 grandchildren- Brandon Megia and Mikaela Aguon.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 6-8 p.m., in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 West William Street, Delaware.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 9:30 a.m., in St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 East William Street, Delaware. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Delaware.
