Joyce Margaret Fashola, 80, of Delaware, Ohio passed away Sunday evening September 29, 2013 at the Kobacker House, Columbus surrounded by her loving family. Before being transferred to the Kobacker House, she was very grateful to be able to spend several of her last days living with her niece Barbara and her husband Willard Humphrey Jr.

Joyce was born on August 6, 1933 in Delaware to Frank J. Banks Sr. and Louie (Mendenhall) Banks.

She was a graduate of Willis High School and the Ohio State University and she taught math in the Cleveland inner city schools for many years. Later she served as a math tutor for the Cuyahoga Community College. She enjoyed reading and teaching – she went to work because she loved her work. She also enjoyed collecting African artifacts and artwork and also antiques. She was also very proud of being able to live and teach in Africa from 1960 – 1961.

Left to cherish her memory are 3 brothers, Forest “Bud” Banks Sr. of Delaware, Winston Banks of Springfield, and Rodney Banks of Cardington; sister, Elsie Richardson of Wilberforce; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Walter, Collins, and Frank Banks Jr. and 4 sisters Bonnie Lou Banks, Louise Harris, Kathleen Banks, and Carolyn Mae Smith-Joyce.

Funeral services will be held Monday October 7th at 1:00 pm at the Devore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
