Joyce Marie (Hennell) Nason, age 75, of Mount Vernon died Friday July 16, 2004 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Joyce was born November 21, 1928 in Kane, Pennsylvania to Eber Laurence and Emma M. (Nelson) Hennell and had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1946. A former resident of 6 Delano Street in Mount Vernon she moved to the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon 2 years ago.

She was a former employee of American Electric Power, Kenyon College and Dr. Phil Mack DDS in Mount Vernon.

Joyce was a devoted spouse, mother, and grandmother. Her interests were varied and included reading, needlework, sewing and the homemaking arts. She was always interested in new challenges including pottery, disco, Tai Chi, music, and bicycling. The family will miss her vitality, sparkling laugh, and ever-good humor.

Joyce was a life-long member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the church choir in Mount Vernon. She was also a member of Soroptomists International and a 50-year member of Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are her son Keith R. (Sue) Nason of Marysville; her daughter Karen C. Abdulfattah of Wilmington, North Carolina; two grandchildren Christopher Nason and Molly Nason; two sisters Lois (Paul) Allerding of Tucson, Arizona and Ruth (Philip) Smith of Belpre; sister-in-law Been Dunn of Tucson, Arizona; many nieces and nephews and thoughtful neighbors and friends. In 1999 she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Nason whom she married June 25, 1950.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 PM with Rev. Keith Stuart officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Knox County Historical Society Museum, to whom she donated her husband, Jack’s handmade model vintage US plane collection.
