Joy Jones, age 68, of Galesburg, MI, formerly of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI.  She was born on November 25, 1947 in Webster Springs, WV, to the late Cecil and Erma (Cogar) Clevenger. 

Joy had a green thumb and loved to take care of her flowers.  She was a member of the AmVets here in Mount Vernon, OH, and worked in the kitchen.  Joy loved to cook and even had a Burger named after her at the Pub she worked, Richland Pub in Kalamazoo, MI.  She loved Christmas time with the family, spending time at her cabin in White Cloud, MI. 

She is survived by her husband, David E. “Ed” Jones; sons, Greg (Renee) Chalfant of Charleston,WV, Bryan (Sara) Chalfant of Riverside, CA; daughters, Monette (Jon) Mawer of Upper Sandusky, OH, Lynette (Randy) Jones of Delaware, OH, Tiffany (Ray) Conkle of Westerville, OH; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dorlan Clevenger of Webster Springs, WV, and Elmer Clevenger of Gauley Bridge, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her sisters, Karen Ramsey and Vercie Gregory; brothers, Gene, Kenneth, Donald, Delmar and Wilmer Clevenger. 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 4-7 PM with a service on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11 AM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon, OH, 43050 with Roger Marra officiating.  Burial will take place in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

  • Some special memories…. Usually when we visit its the whole Jones girls families, so you can imagine how much coffee we go through! Well, you did NOT want to be caught taking the last cup and not making more😉 sound familiar dad?
    Also, my husband has celiac and has to eat gluten free and everyone knows how WONDERFUL Joys cooking is!!!!! Well, after she found out she ALWAYS made sure he had something to eat… And not just sometheing… Of course it was Something homemade and SUPEER DELICIOUS!!!! As all her cooking always is!!!!
