Josie E. Staley

December 18, 1949 ‒ May 29, 2018

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Josie E. Staley, age 68, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, at her residence with the company of her daughter. Her battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) has come to an end.

On December 18, 1949, Josie was born to the late George T. “Lucky” and Josephine I. (Morrison) Hull in Bath, New York. After graduating McDowell High School in 1967 Josie attended Rio Grand College.

Finding her one true love, Josie married Virgil S. Staley on December 19, 1970 at Christ United Methodist Church in Erie, PA.

Over the years, Josie has mastered the art of real estate. She worked as a loan underwriter for Park West Corporation in Columbus. Josie was a realtor/ broker of her own firm: Amick Realty and served as the past president of the Morrow County Board of Realtors. To prepare for retirement, and be closer to home and her family, Josie became a bank teller at First Knox National Bank.

With an appreciation of “good” music, Josie LOVED Josh Groban. She was a member of THE FRIENDS OF JOSH GROBAN. In fact, Josie was his number 8 fan club member! She loved to travel with her golden Grobanites to see his shows and even saw 6 shows in one week.

Josie enjoyed watching church services on Christian T.V. and being ministered to locally by the Vessel Community Church. When she could, Josie also loved to travel and if her travels lead her to a beach she was always extra happy.

Her biggest accomplishment in life was being a successful mother of three daughters. Josie often was the light of the room. Her sweet, fiercely loving, loyal, encouraging, and supportive personality was such a joy to be around. Josie’s caring and generous soul will be missed by many.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Virgil; daughters: Mindy Staley of Worthington, Marcia (David) Young of Mount Gilead, and Andrea Staley of Chicago; grandchildren: Chelsey (Jalen) Brown, Claire and Wyatt Young; great-grandchild on the way, Jackson Brown; sisters: Harriett Onorato and Denise Snyder; brothers: Skip, Joe, Don, Daniel, and Douglas Artz; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving canine companion, Gracie.

Josie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Hull; and sisters: Dorothy Artz and Debbie Snowball.

Her family will greet friends from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338) Services celebrating her life will be held there at 4:00 PM with Pastor Jesse McLeod officiating.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International or Find Your Light Foundation and may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead are honored to have been chosen to serve Josie’s family and your condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
