Joseph Edward “Pappy” Day, 72, of Galion, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at home.

Born Apr. 17, 1938 in Frenchburg, Ky., he was the son of the late George Day and Mary Lee Day. He married JoAnn Eusey Day on June 21, 1969 and she survives.

Joe worked for the City of Galion Street Department for 15 years retiring in February of 1996 and was a member of Galion Owls Nest and the Army Navy Club in Galion. He enjoyed fishing, blue grass music, dancing and going to flea markets and was a novice collector collecting anything and everything.

He is survived by his step children, Melody and Donald Stratton, Gloria and David Buchanan,
John Grubaugh and Tammy Storer all of Galion, eight step grandchildren; 16 step great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Desse and Donald Adams of Springfield and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two step children, Charlotte Grubaugh, Robert C. Grubaugh, II and numerous brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, with Pastor Michael Rogers and Minister James Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
