Joey Adkins went home to be with the lord, Friday, April 19, 2002, at his home after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer .
He was born July 2, 1977 in Mt. Gilead and graduated from Highland
High School in 1995. He was employed by Fishburn Services for five years prior to going to work for Commodore Advance Sciences Inc. He loved golfing, hockey, and his many friends. He was loved by all who knew him. He was cared for by Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Step-mother, and Father in lieu of Hospice.
Survived by his devoted father: Jonah (Joney) of Chesterville; step mother: Cindy; Brother: Chad (Amy) of Marengo; Mother: Mary Harmony of Marengo; Aunts and Uncles: Ruth Pukansy, Emmett Adkins Jr. and friend Bet Dowis, Betty Stephens, Gene (Janet) Adkins, Dorothy Coleman, Enoch Adkins and Linda, Laura (Floyd) Mailey, Ernie (Kim) Adkins, Joyce (Dick) Wertz, Jimmy (Sharon) Adkins; a “very special” Aunt and Uncle: Eloise & Chuck Freeman all of Marengo, Frank (Rose) Adkins and Ellet (Betty) Adkins all of Cardington, Hester (Dick) Addison of New Carlisle, Mary (Jerry) Fouts of Delaware; Great-Uncles: Fred Phelps, James Adkins; Great-Aunt: Maxine Templeton and numerous cousins.
Preceded in death by Grandparents: Emmett & Ina Adkins; Uncle: Paul “Junior” Stephens; Cousins: Mike and “Little” Gene Adkins.
Friends may call Monday 4-8 P.M. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. with Pastors Rolland Edwards and Brad Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Marengo Cemetery.
