John William Hunt Jr., 68, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly late Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2018 at his residence.

He was born June 8, 1950 in Delaware to the late John William Hunt Sr. and Naomi Jean (Kimble) Gilbert. He later proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

John was a member of the Delaware Eagles Lodge #376 and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed camping, fishing and music. His favorite group was The Beatles and he also played guitar in the same band for 50 years. He loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving, but his true love was spending time with his children and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving companion of 8 years, Robin Parshall; sons, John William Hunt III, Christopher Hunt, Timothy Hunt, and Ricky Hunt, all of Delaware; grandchildren, Samantha, Kameron, and Brianna; brother, Thomas (Ana) Hunt of Arcadia, Florida; sister, Jeannie (Len) Carter of Delaware; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandson Troy Hunt.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Ashley Union Cemetery with the Delaware County Veterans Association providing military honors. A memorial gathering and celebration of John’s life will follow at the Blue Limestone Park in Delaware.

  • I will never forget Johnny, Tommy, Johns friend Tommy U, cousin Lee and my brother Joe playing music together. Also the times that we all got together on New Years Eve at Aunt Liz and Uncle Dewey’s house. Lots of rock n roll, dancing and just having a good time. Then there was the time that a bunch of us went to Old Mans Cave. I was younger than the rest but got to tag along becuz I was Joe’s little sister. What good memories!
    You were close to Joe and meant alot to him. Now you two can play rock n roll for the angels!
    You will be missed Johnny. Love you Cuz.

  • We grew up together on S. Washington St. Johnny was always interested in music. I remember Johnny, Tommy and my two brothers Steve and Scott even played cardboard guitars ! GREAT MEMORIES was made on Our street SOUTH WASHINGTON STREET.
