John V. Bonen, 79, of Crestline passed away January 1, 2018 at the Galion Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1938 in Galion and was the son of John H. and Pearl (Wheatcraft) Bonen. John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Claudia (Hale) Bonen whom he married on July 22, 1995.

John worked at Hercules, Peabody Galion and lastly McClain EZ Pack for 45 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Crestline, Lions Club of Crestline and the VFW Post 2920 of Crestline. John enjoyed gardening, used to be an active bowler and hunted when he was younger.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Marsha Noerr of Clarksville, Tennessee and Dora Mabe of Delaware; step-son Cory Forshaw of Crestline; step-granddaughter Kyla Forshaw of Oklahoma, brother Mart Bonen of Grove City; sisters Joan Milbery of Hollywood, Florida, Marjorie Gregory of Galion, Doris Ambuehl of Lancaster, Betty (Ken) Heslep of Mansfield, Dorothy Barnett of Waco, Texas, Norma Bonen of South Euclid, Diane Bonen of Marion and Bonnie (Mark Habick) Bonen of Crestline; sisters-in-law Jeanette Holbert of Blue Springs, Missouri and Bev Bogantz of Crestline; special friends Mike and Suzy Weisman of Crestline and his faithful Cocker Spaniel, Buffy Marie.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, John H. Bonen; infant sister and son-in-law Tom Noerr.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8 with Pastor Becky Weamer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
