BUTLER: John Raymond Freeman, 92, of Ramsey Road, Butler, died Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2004 in Whetstone Care Center, Columbus.

He was born September 9, 1912 in Newville to Leroy P. and Jennie A. (Lindley) Freeman, and was graduated from Butler High School in 1929.

Raymond retired after 42 years as foreman with Westinghouse Electric, and was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Butler.

He was proud to have served his community for over twenty years as clerk of Worthington Township. Raymond was a member of Venus Lodge F&AM, and had formerly served as president of the Richland Rural Life Center.

Later in life he found great camaraderie and enjoyed singing with the Fun Center Chordsmen.

He is survived by his wife Edna Lucille (Smith) Freeman, whom he married June 5, 1937; two sons and daughters-in-law James & Evelyn Freeman of Butler and William and Karen Freeman of Galena; two daughters and a son-in-law Janice Wery of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Jenny and Dr. Martin Gottesman of Worthington; ten grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and a sister Donna Brown of Leesburg, Florida.

He was preceded in death by two brothers William Freeman and Charles Freeman and two sisters Nellie Byerly and Katherine Peck.

The family will receive friends this evening, Tuesday, October 26, 2004 from 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 pm. The Rev. Ken Kinley will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
