John R. Imler

MANSFIELD: John R. Imler, 85, of Royal Oak Drive, died Saturday morning, January 12, 2002, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born September 19, 1916 in Altoona, PA, to William and Mae Faust Imler who are now deceased, and had been a Mansfield resident most of his life.
John was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School with the class of 1935, and served in the US Army for five years with the 37th Division, Field Artillery, discharged as 1st Lieutenant. He also fought in the South Pacific.
John worked at the Ohio Brass Company for 43 years and held the position of Assistant Manager of Sales.
He was a 56-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Mansfield, where he had served the congregation as an elder. He was a 33rd degree Mason of the Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife Eva Hager Imler; whom he married October 30, 1941; his son James R. Imler of Chillicothe; his daughter Carole McKinney and a granddaughter Ashley McKinney both of Tiffin; a sister-in-law Rose Kimmerle, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kate & Chuck Oberlin, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Al & Irma Hager all of Mansfield; brother-in-law Jim Hager of Columbia, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday January 14, 2002 from 4-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 399 South Trimble Road, Mansfield, with the Rev. Dennis R. Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park, where the Richland County Joint Veterans Council will hold military graveside honors.
