John was born on September 7, 1943 in Pomeroy, Ohio to the late Harold E. and Ethel (Wilson) Hysell.  John grew up in Pomeroy where he was a 1962 graduate of the Pomeroy High School.  While living in Pomeroy, he worked at the C and G Egg Co. and the Excelsior Salt Works, both for a number of years.  While in Pomeroy, John was introduced to Barbara Imboden by Barbara’s aunt, where they dated for three years, and on June 13, 1964, the two married.  New work opportunities moved John’s family from Pomeroy to Delaware in 1966. While in Delaware, John worked for the Twin Rivers Concrete Co. for a short time and then worked at J.G. He was one of the founder’s of the girl’s softball league in Ashley.  He spent a lot of time helping and building up the baseball fields in Ashley, and later became the President of the Baseball Association.

(Imboden) Hysell; son, Troy (Xenia) Hysell; daughters, Kim (Randy) Basham and Tammi Hysell; grandchildren, Kraig Votaw, Tatiana Brookins, Charles Brookins and Kyle Brookins; brother, Harold Hysell; sister, Patricia Shilt; sister-in-law, Rheba Hysell; numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and his dog Tika.
