John R. (Jack) Hyatt, age 87, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at his home.

He was born on March 25, 1934, in Knox County, Ohio to the late Jesse and Faithe (Jackson) Hyatt.  John was a veteran serving in the United States Army Airborne during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, of over 66 years, Patricia (Morey) Hyatt; his daughter, Karen (Mark) Levine of Pittsburgh, PA; his sons, Jeff (Laurie) Hyatt of Atlanta, GA, Stephen (Cheryl) Radnor, OH, and David (Stephanie) Hyatt of Hinesburg, VT; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his brother Melvin (Jan) Hyatt of Sarasota, FL; and sister-in-law Joreen Hyatt of Huron, OH.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Stanley Hyatt.

A military service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will take place at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Beulah United Methodist Church in Bangs.

  • Really sorry to hear about John’s passing. He was a great guy and I enjoyed spending a lot of time with him while he was at Marysville and Asheville.

  • I’m Jeff’s next door neighbor for over 29 years. Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hyatt several times over the years . He was very friendly and welcoming and raised a great son in Jeff. He will be truly missed.

  • Very sad to learn of Jack’s passing. We share cousins but even more we shared Columbia School, Bangs, and Beulah Church. Lots of memories. And Pat, of course we share the Bangs So So 4-H and my dear Aunt Loree Patton. Very sad news.

  • John was a very good friend of us. We meet at Adelaide Shores RV park in Florida. He was always willing to help anyone that needed his help. He was our back yard neighbor for over 15 years. May he rest in peace.
