John L. March
June 16, 1954 ‒ March 24, 2012
John L. March, age 57, of Cardington, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, March 24, 2012, at his residence following a brief illness.
On June 16, 1954, John was born at the Morrow County Hospital in Mount Gilead, one of two children of Betty (Winkler) March Lindsay of Mount Gilead and the late Paul E. March. He graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1972.
Shortly following graduation, John began working at the H.P.M. Corporation, where he dedicated his life to for over 30 years as a machinist. He hardly ever missed a day of work up until the day they closed their doors.
One night at the V.F.W. in Mount Gilead, John was introduced to a young lady, Adenna Everhart, by her father, Jim Everhart. Soon thereafter, John and Adenna were married on May 28, 1982, and they have cherished their nearly 30 years together.
John was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8054 in Mount Gilead, and of the Morrow County YMCA, where he went to work out nearly every day.
With a love for woodworking, John enjoyed making “a house full” of gifts for Adenna, making everything from grandfather clocks to furniture and cabinet doors. He also enjoyed making his grandson a toy back hoe, and he had fun making an actual cannon.
An avid hunter and fisherman, John especially enjoyed deer hunting in the woods of Morrow County. His wife and family never knew what they would have to cook and eat, after he went hunting and fishing.
A “gentle giant”, John was known to be very quiet and shy, that is until you got to know him. Once you got to know him, then he surprise you with his orneriness, often “catching you off guard”. He was also a very kind hearted and loving man, who made sure his family and friends were taken care of.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Adenna March; a son, Richard L. “Rick” March, both of Cardington; a grandson, Jayden Michael March; his mother, Betty Lindsay of Mount Gilead; his sister, Judy Howard of Mount Gilead; his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Jean Everhart; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: James “Jimmy” Everhart, Kelly (Steve) Roberts, and Angie (Ray) Jenkins, all of Cardington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including his father, John was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Richard Howard.
Services celebrating John’s life will be held on his birthday, June 16, 2012, at his home. Further details will be provided closer to that day.
Memorial contributions may be made to his family, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
