John “Johnny Bob” Wolfe, age 81, of Sunbury died peacefully Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Country View of Sunbury surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 22, 1922 to the late Elijah and Clara (Jobes) Wolfe. John was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the U. S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge and the Rhineland Ardennes campaign in Central Europe. He worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for Western Electric of Columbus until retiring, member of the Sunbury Christian Church and Pope Co. Barber Shop Chorus in FL. Resided in Sunbury for 23 years before moving to Lakeland, Florida for 16 years, he then returned to Sunbury 3 years ago. He enjoyed fishing, shuffle board, playing cards, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucille (Johnson) Wolfe of Sunbury, Daughter; Sharon (Bob) Croushore of Croton, Sons; Rob (Elaine) and Dale (Christina) Wolfe both of Sunbury, Glenn (Judy) Wolfe of Columbus, and Keith Wolfe of Lakeland, FL, Special Niece, Jane (Tom) Chapman, Grandchildren; Danny, Phil, Charlie, John, Tami, Timmy, Amy, Tommy, Brad, Kelly, Tony, Brian, Cody, and Emily, Great-Grandchildren; Derek, Myranda, Jessica, Robby, Tyler, Megan, Lane, Elaine, Brother; Don (Jean) Wolfe of FL., Sisters; Thelma Weber of Columbus, Bertha (James) Radabaugh, Joan (Robert) Sample of FL, and Yvonne (Charles) Hebert of Hilliard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Tiffany and Baby Wolfe, two brothers; Fred and Stan Wolfe, and two sisters; Helen Hawes and Margaret Darst.

Friends may call Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at SR 61, Sunbury, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Hugh Snepp officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Trenton Twp. Cemetery, Sunbury.
