John I. Cheney

John I. Cheney, 46, of Crestline, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Galion after a long illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1964 in Crestline, he was the son of the late Ralph L. Cheney and Mary R. Gage Cheney of Crestline. He was preceded in death on May 31, 2001 by his wife, Gina L. Moritz Cheney whom he married on July 27, 1985.
He attended Crestline High School and graduated from Pioneer Joint Vocational School in 1982 with a degree in auto mechanics. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Crestline, was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He enjoyed fishing and animals, especially his cats. John worked at Hi-Stat in Lexington for the last 14 years, where he was a machinist. He previously worked at Cheney Motor Sales in Crestline where he was a mechanic.
In addition to his mother he is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Deborah Cheney of Ontario and Jeff and Kathy Cheney of Port Clinton; one sister and brother-in-law, Jody and David Farrow of Lynchburg, Va.; 10 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and father he is preceded in death by one sister Janet Ady.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday Feb. 6, 2011 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, with Pastor Greg Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
