John H. Napier, age 96, of Mount Vernon, died Monday September 17, 2007 at Wesley Ridge Assisted Living Center in Reynoldsburg. John was born February 16, 1911 in Toledo to James and Mary (Laing) Napier. John served in the United States Army, medical corps in the European Theater of War during World War Two. He retired in 1975 as district manager for the Toledo Blade newspaper where he had been employed for 45 years.

John was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church where he was active with the Varsity Sunday School class. He had also been a member of Robinson Lock Lodge #659 Free and Accepted Masons in Toledo, had attended Mount Zion Lodge #9 Free and Accepted Masons in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Mount Vernon Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving are his wife Sandra (Ristick) Napier whom he married July 10, 1947; his sons John Napier of Michigan, James (Lynn) Napier of Florida; his daughters Mary (Robert) White of Columbus and Sandra (Jay) Kowalski of Toledo; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister Mary Burnworth and two brothers James Napier and Norman Napier.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from Noon until 2 PM.
