John George Scanlan, III, 44, of Centerburg passed away September 19, 2008. His death was sudden, unexpected and heartbreaking.

He was born January 30, 1964 to John George Scanlan, Jr. and the late Rosemary LeFevour Scanlan. John attended The Ohio State University and was a graduate of Lakewood High School, Lakewood, Ohio and Kettering College of Medical Arts, Kettering, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Nicci (Quelette), son Griffin and daughter Madison; father John Scanlan, Jr.; brothers Brian (Veronique), Kevin, Patrick (Diane) and Edward (Amy); sisters Colleen (Greg) Derderian, Maureen (Sandy) Sanford, and Kathleen (Michael) Ochall; mother and father-in law, Robert and Phyllis Quelette; sisters-in law, Robin (Daniel) Williams and Michelle (Jeffrey) Rice; 28 nieces and nephews; 1 great niece and 2 great nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as innumerable friends.

John worked for many years as a physician assistant for Dr. Bruce Auerbach and Central Ohio Cardiology. He enjoyed spending time with his family, coaching his children and others in the Big Walnut Community in basketball and football and caring for his patients. He was an avid athlete and enjoyed participating in triathlons and other sporting events with his family.

Friends may call Thursday, September 25 from 4-7 p.m. at the Vineyard Church, 1001 W. Cherry Street 43074 Sunbury, where memorial services will follow at 7:30 p.m., arrangements have been entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.
