John W. Farson, age 76, of Dunham Road, Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday November 25, 2003 at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus. He was born on July 7, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Albert and Alice (Walker) Farson and had been a resident of the Mt. Vernon area since 1960. Mr. Farson retired in 1976 after serving as a Captain for the Columbus Fire Department. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Josephine (Devine) Farson, five sons, Michael (Phyllis) Farson of Williamsburg, VA, Thomas (Charlotte) Farson of Marengo, Charles (Deborah) Farson of Mount Vernon, Paul (Verna) Farson of Centerburg, Joseph (Yvonne) Farson of Gambier, two daughters, Mary (James) Collier and Anne (Daniel) Foelsch both of San Diego, CA, 14 grandchildren, Beth Ann, Tony, Kevin (Niki), Brandice (Randy), Holly, Amanda (Fred), Rebecca, John, Andrea, Shannon, Jason, Alicia, Jenna and Travis and five great grandchildren, Brittany, Kasi, Grant, Mason and Haven.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son John Walker Jr.
Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a Rosary will be held at 8:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Ted Thomas will be officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
