John F. “Jack” Heath, age 79 of Sunbury died Friday morning, December 12, 2008 at home.

He was born on January 13, 1929 in Rochester, PA to the late Bennette L. and Marie L. (Webster) Heath. With college degrees in Philosophy, Theology, and Law, he also was a US Army veteran.

Jack worked as an attorney with the Ohio Bureau of Workman’s Compensation. He was member of St. Clare Roman Catholic Church. Very musically inclined, directing numerous choirs throughout his life, he also played both the piano and organ. An avid gardener, known for his numerous tomato’s, he raised any thing that could be eaten.

Interested in weather, he charted the historical climates. Another passion was his enjoyment of crossword puzzles. He was conservative in nature, a deep thinker, and will be remembered for his generous qualities.

He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years: Jeanne E. (Martin), Daughter: Mary (David) Geller of Lewis Center, Son: Tom (Kate) Heath of Tucson, AZ, Grandson: Kyle Geller, Brother: Fr. Joseph Heath, Sisters: Mary Jane Heath and Julie LaGumina.

Preceded in death by a brother James.

Friends may call Sunday 3-6:00 p.m., rosary 5:30 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10:00 a.m. at St. Clare Roman Catholic Church, 24 E. Norwich Ave., Columbus, Bishop Daniel Dolan Celebrant. PROCESSION WILL FORM AT THE CHURCH. Burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
