John F. Demopolis, age 73 of Delaware passed away Tuesday morning, February 25, 2014 at Kobacker House in Columbus.
He was born on June 14, 1940 in Columbus to the late Gus and Meryle (Bohl) Demopolis. John worked as a production associate with Anheuser Busch for 28 years.
An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He served in the US Army Reserves and was proud of his Greek heritage. Passionate about gardening, he looked forward to its tending. In retirement he looked forward to day trips throughout Ohio, discovering many out of the way places. He earned the nick name “Big Bad John” from his Aunt, who introduced him to his future wife.
Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Betty M. (Hunter), son J. Dean Demopolis of Delaware, daughters Lisa Demopolis of Dublin, Amy (Thomas) Davidson of Delaware, grandchildren Jessica and Marina Demopolis, Brooke and Carter Davidson, as well as a sister Carol Yates of Columbia, South Carolina and his close aunt and uncle, Irene and Bill Selander of Upper Arlington, and other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held privately for his family on Wednesday at Radnor Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.
