John “Pete” Green Sr.

John Edward “Pete” Green Sr., 62, of Delaware passed away early Thursday morning June 2, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on January 3, 1954 in Delaware to the late Ralph E. Burns and Anna Slayton.

Pete worked many years at the Consolidated Biscuit Company in Carey and in his younger years enjoyed building and driving hot rods. More recently he enjoyed tinkering, working on and rebuilding computers. He also loved spending time with his family and his two Yorkies, Ellie and Lilly.

Left to cherish his memory are sons John (Alicia) Green Jr. and Adam Green of Delaware and Phillip of Ada; daughters Nicole Green and Belinda Weldin of Delaware; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers Robert Weatherall of Grove City and Garland Weatherall of Newark; sisters Janice Green of Delaware, Sadie Pettry of Marion and Mary (Robert) Trump of Delaware; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother and father, Pete was also preceded in death by his stepfather Ray Green, sisters Shirley Coakley, Helen Church and Isabelle Caudill and brothers Larry and William Weatherall.

The family will receive friends on Sunday June 5, 2016 from 2 – 5 pm at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William St.), Delaware and where funeral services will be held on Monday June 6, 2016 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Contributions in Pete’s memory may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.

  • From the first week John was not present he was missed and will be for a long time to come-he added so much to our department by his mere presence, quick wit, and with even a little sarcasm thrown in.
