John D. Cooper, 60, of St. Rt. 61, Mt. Gilead, Ohio died Thursday, October 31, 2002 at his home.

He was born in Marion, Ohio on July 25, 1942, the son of the late Orville and Mary Curtis Cooper. He graduated from Mt. Gilead High School in 1960, prior to serving in the U.S. Army from 1960-87. He worked as a med tech for Warren General Hospital, as a plumber, and for Kroger’s in Mt. Gilead. He returned here from Warren in 1999. In addition to attending the Edison United Methodist Church, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, and playing softball and cards.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jarvis Cooper, whom he married July 24, 1971; four sons Roger of Newton Falls, OH, Jason of Columbus, OH, Jeff of Cleveland, OH and Robben of Lima, OH; a daughter Linda (Mike) Thibbadeaux of Sulphur, LA; three grandchildren Allyson, Lacey and Micah; two brothers Robert Cooper of Mt. Gilead, OH, and Jerry Cooper of Lima, OH; and five sisters Nancy Roach of Mt. Gilead, OH, Frances McPeek of Mt. Gilead, OH, Sue Potter of Mansfield, OH, Barbara Richards of Ashley, OH, Kathy West and Vicki Cooper both of Mt. Gilead, OH.

A brother Pete Cooper preceded him in death in 1997.

Friends may call at the Snyder Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Pastor Don Lockwood will conduct funeral services there Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors by the VFW and Am Vets Posts will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
