John Albert Luyster

John Albert Luyster, age 67, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Marion General Hospital.
John was born in Barnesville, Ohio on July 18, 1951 to the late Elmer and Ola Belle (Sharrock) Luyster; John later graduated from Washington High School. After graduation, John entered the U.S. Army and served as a guard at Fort Benning in Georgia.
John was a selfless man always helping those in need. He could often be found at the American Legion 584 drinking a beer with his family and friends. John was employed many years at Cogburn Electric and later retired from Buckeye Industrial Center.
John is survived by children, Scott (Felicia) Luyster of Marion and Cindy Mbuthia of Marion; grandchildren, Breanna, Suzie, and J.J. Luyster, Skyler Simmons, Haddy Sey and Malakhi Kuria, siblings, Charlie (Dorothy) Luyster, Nancy Hoelscher, James Luyster, and David Luyster; along with nieces and nephews, Cara Luyster, Tonya Hensel, David Luyster, Jr., Laura Pineda, and Jamie Courtney.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by former wife, Barbara (Byrnes) Luyster.
A memorial service will take place at Snyder Funeral Homes, GUNDER/HALL Chapel on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11 am. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Pastor Steve Estep will officiate and Military Honors will be presented by the Marion Area United Veterans Council.
