JoAnn Day, 79, Galion died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, unexpectedly, after a sudden illness.
Born Apr. 28, 1933 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Raymond O. and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Treisch Eusey, Sr. JoAnn first married Robert C. Grubaugh on Aug. 30, 1954. On June 21, 1969 she married Joseph E. “Pappy” Day and they spent 41 years together until he preceded her in death May, 5, 2010.
JoAnn was a very outgoing, loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend whom enjoyed doing for others and helping in the community. Her first calling was being a homemaker and she loved to play bingo.
She is survived by four children and one son-in-law, Melody and Donald Stratton of Galion, Gloria Buchanan of Angleton, Texas, John Grubaugh of Galion and Tammy Storer of Galion; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Doris Hammac of Hooks, Texas and Barbara Noggle of Galion; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Mollie “Dee” Eusey of Galion and Ted and Betty Eusey of Galion.
She was preceded in death by two children, Charlotte Louise Grubaugh and Robert Grubaugh, Jr.; four sisters, Thelma Hollaway, Margaret “Peggy” Scott, Susan Barrows and Shirley Dewalt and four brothers, Richard Eusey, Robert “Whimp” Eusey, Mike Eusey and Raymond Eusey, Jr..
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21with Pastor Michael Rogers and Minister James Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
