Joan B. Bailey, age 65, of Danville, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Monday January 22, 2007 at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. Joan was born February 28, 1941 at Brinkhaven to John Edward Booth and Estella Mae (Vess) Booth and had spent her lifetime in the Central Ohio area. She was a 1959 graduate of Howard High School and in 1962 married Dr. Richard W. Bailey, Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Joan was a very magnanimous individual and was proud of her affiliation with The Ohio State University where she was a Presidents Club member. Joan was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are her three sons Richard W. (Jan) Bailey II of Blacklick, Andrew (Celia) Bailey of Auckland, New Zealand and Matthew (Julie) Bailey of Millersport; four grandchildren Skylar Bailey, Roberta Bailey, Elise Bailey and Nathaniel Bailey, six brothers Larry Gardner, John Booth, Thomas Booth, Richard Booth, Roger Booth, and David Booth and five sisters Pat Elkins, Jean Snow, Sandra Cunningham, Nancy Kent and Sue Gardner. Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters Jane Abraham, Marlene Melton and Connie Diane Booth and a brother Jim Booth.

A service celebrating the life of Joan B. Bailey will be Friday at 2 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

The arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
